When It Rains, It Pours!

It’s been a while since I’ve actually done a blog, but I needed to tell you a story…

Yesterday, I had to get my blood work done for my Crohn’s, and it was pouring down rain. Well, let me tell you that when it rains people forget how to drive. I’m not joking in the least. They either go twenty miles below the speed limit or go ninety miles an hour. It’s ridiculous. Anyway, I’m on the road to go to the blood place (a one-way road) and this guy in a white van turns into my line coming toward me! He literally turned into traffic. If you could see my face right now, you would realize how shocked I still am. I never had that happen to me before. I mean, come on! The sign clearly says DO NOT ENTER, and he just turned right against traffic. Luckily, there was enough room for him to pull over onto the shoulder, after leaving me dumbfounded.

What is it with people driving in the rain? They lose all ability to read and drive!

Moving on from that, the good news was, I got to the blood place in one piece, although slightly shaken, and they found a vein right off the bat. A Christmas miracle, I tell you! She put on the tourniquet, tapped my arm, and BAM, she got the vein. That is nothing short of phenomenal, people. And the conversation I had with her went something like this…

The phlebotomist taps my arm once, and I asked, “Did you get one?”

“Yup,” she replies.

“Good, now stick the needle in before it hears you. Be a ninja!”

And she was. Thank God!

After I was done, we were talking about my Betsey Johnson handbag with a big sparkly red bow on it, and the other phlebotomist nearly died when she saw it. “You have no idea how much I wanna rob you for it right now,” she gushed. “It is so cute! I was looking at that one on the website and it looks so much better in person!”

I promptly told her where I got it, for only thirty bucks, and I left with a smile on my face.

One near death experience, and a Christmas miracle… I guess the Universe does even itself out. Huh… who knew?
